The Doctoral School of the Complexity of the Living Organism (ED515), jointly accredited by Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) and université Paris Sciences & Lettres (PSL), has 160 host teams with over 500 researchers and professor-researchers. These teams are located at several different sites and institutions, namely the Institut de Biologie Paris Seine (IBPS) at the Jussieu Campus, Institut Curie, Institut Pasteur, Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris, Institut de Myologie de la Pitié-Salpétrière and UPMC’s marine biology stations.
The doctoral school’s scientific research covers the most fundamental aspects of biology. Its research projects focus on the molecular and cellular aspects of biological processes in the fields of genomics, cellular biology and development, microbiology, the biology of systems, evolutionary biology and structural biology. These projects draw on a wide range of model organisms and are often integrative and/or multidisciplinary. The doctoral school recruits approximately 80 doctoral candidates a year and has developed effective tools for monitoring doctoral projects.
