Created in 2000, the Doctoral School of Mathematical Science of Central Paris (ED 386) aims to provide research-based training in the following disciplines: fundamental mathematics (analysis, algebra, geometry, etc.), applied mathematics (probability, statistics, scientific calculation, etc.), fundamental computer science and other areas of computer science (signal processing, imaging, etc.) related to mathematics.

Their connections to other scientific fields (medicine, biology, physics, computer science, linguistics, etc.) give rise to new areas of investigation.

DS 386 includes most of the mathematics laboratories within Paris, the computer science laboratories at the Université Paris Diderot (Paris 7) and the ENS of Paris, along with several teams associated with the INRIA. Its support establishment is the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6), its main affiliated partner.
